2014 Hall of Fame Inductees
Fred Ridley and Taffy Brower enter the FSGA Hall of Fame
On Friday, November 21, 2014, the Florida State Golf Association inducted two new members into its prestigious Hall of Fame.

“Taffy Brower was born in Rochester, New York where she began playing golf at the age of seven. Taffy fell in love with competition and was the Women’s Rochester District Junior Champion three times. In 1969, she finished runner-up in the New York State Women’s Amateur at the age of 18. During the next ten years, Taffy played sparingly while raising her two children, Aaron and Kristen, with her husband Buzz. Taffy returned to competitive golf and moved to Florida. Taffy has captured 24 victories in Palm Beach County, including seven Palm Beach County Women’s Amateur Championships, six Tri-County Championships, and four West Palm Beach City Championships.
In state level competition, Taffy claimed ten Championships in Florida. In the Women’s Florida State Match Play Championship she advanced to the finals seven times was victorious four times. She captured the Women’s State Stroke Play Championship and State Four-Ball Championship twice. Taffy won the State Senior Championship once. She was selected to play on team Florida in the USGA State Team Championship six consecutive times, the Florida/Georgia Team Matches 17 times, and the Southeastern Women’s Amateur Team Matches 17 times.
As of 2014, Taffy has competed in 46 USGA events and in 2001, she was a quarterfinalist in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur. Taffy was quarterfinalist in the U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur in 1997 and 2001. She earned Medalist honors at sectional qualifying in four U.S. Women’s Senior Amateurs, five U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateurs, and once in the U.S. Women’s Amateur. She won the Southern Women’s Amateur once, the Southern Senior Women’s Amateur twice, and was the Senior Champion of the Harder Hall Women’s Invitational seven times. In 2004, Taffy earned the first Florida Women’s State Golf Association Player-of-the-Year award. In that year Taffy won both the Southern Amateur and Southern Senior Amateur Titles.
